Admission Criteria
Faculty of Computer Systems and Control offers admission to applicants who appear to have the highest potential for graduate study and who, with the benefit of a graduate education, are the most likely to contribute substantially to their academic or professional fields through teaching, research, or professional practice.
The minimum graduate admission requirements are:
(1) a bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution;
(2) a good scholastic average, usually a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 4 (Local grade) or C (ECTS Grade);
(3) enough undergraduate training to do graduate work in the field of Computer Science.
Admission decisions are based on departmental review, using a combination of factors, including academic degrees and records, the statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, test scores, and relevant work experience.
Minimum Degree Requirements & Required Records of Academic Work
Domestic Applicants
Applicants must hold or expect to hold prior to the beginning of classes a bachelor’s degree in "Computer Science", "Computer Systems and Technologies", "Computer and Communication Technique" from Technical University of Sofia or another accredited BG university.
If the applicant hold a bachelor's or master's degree in other professional fields of study like "Natural Sciences", "Engineering", "Economics", "Agricultural Science", "Security and Defence", "Education Sciences", "Humanities", "Social and Economic Sciences", "Arts", he/she must pass one year preparatory course, before to continue with the master degree program "Computer Science".
Required Records for Master's Degree Program in "Computer Science":
- A true copy of high school leaving certificate or diploma and/or transcript. Bulgarian high school diplomas are considered as true copies if certified by a notary. If you have attended TU-Sofia, you must request an official transcript from the university. Applicants who do not hold a high school diploma at the time of applying must present an official high school transcript. Transcripts are considered official if they bear an official high school stamp and the signature of the high school principal. Academic transcripts should include the high school’s contact information. Records must list the subjects taken, grades earned or examination results in each subject, and certificates or diplomas with a calculated annual grade point average (GPA).
- A copy of papers already published in refereed journals, conference proceedings in the area of computer science and technologies. A certificate for presented or accepted papers are required to be presented. (Optional )
- Certificate of participation in research projects and contracts related to computer science and technologies. (Optional )
- A receipt for paid state of fee application.
- Filled and signed application form. (Download)

Required Records for Preparatory (Equalization) Course of study in "Computer Science":
- A true copy of high school leaving certificate or diploma and/or transcript. Bulgarian high school diplomas are considered as true copies if certified by a notary. International Applicants
Graduates of recognized academic institutions outside the Bulgaria should hold a degree equivalent to a BG bachelor's degree. Equivalency is determined by International evaluators in the Graduate Admissions Office.
If the applicant hold a bachelor's or master's degree in other professional fields of study like "Natural Sciences", "Engineering", "Economics", "Agricultural Science", "Security and Defence", "Education Sciences", "Humanities", "Social and Economic Sciences", "Arts", he/she must pass one year preparatory course, before to continue with the master degree program "Computer Science".

Evidence of English Language Proficiency
All applicants from countries in which the official language is not English are required to submit official evidence of English language proficiency.
If the applicant have completed at least one year of full-time academic course work with grades of B (Very Good) or better in residence at a university, he/she do not need to take a standardized test.
