Admissions Requirements and Application Procedure
Eligibility criteria, academic requirements and application documents for domestic and international applicants to the Master’s programme in Computer Science and Engineering.
Admission Criteria
The Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies admits applicants who demonstrate strong potential for graduate study and who are likely to contribute meaningfully to their academic or professional field through research, teaching or professional practice.

Recognised Bachelor’s degree
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree, or a recognised equivalent, awarded by an accredited higher-education institution.

Academic standing
A minimum overall grade of 4.00 on the Bulgarian six-point grading scale, ECTS grade C, or an equivalent result is normally required.

Relevant academic preparation
Applicants must have sufficient undergraduate preparation to undertake graduate-level study in computer science and engineering.
Admission decisions are made following departmental review. The assessment may consider academic qualifications and transcripts, a statement of purpose, references, test results and relevant professional experience, where these are requested.

Relevant computing degree
Direct entry is intended for graduates of Computer Science, Computer Systems and Technologies, Computer and Communication Engineering, or another closely related programme at the Technical University of Sofia or another accredited Bulgarian university.
Preparatory route
Degree in another field
Applicants whose previous degree is in another professional field may be required to complete a one-year preparatory programme before progressing to the Master’s programme.
The preparatory route may apply to graduates from the following broad fields:

Bachelor’s degree diploma and academic transcript
Submit a certified copy of the diploma and an academic transcript listing the courses completed, grades awarded and the calculated overall grade-point average. TU–Sofia graduates should follow the University’s procedure for obtaining an official transcript.

Application fee receipt
Submit proof that the applicable application fee has been paid.

Completed application form
The application form must be completed and signed by the applicant.

First-semester course selection form
Direct-entry applicants must also submit the completed and signed form for elective courses and course projects for Semester 1.
Optional supporting evidence: copies of publications in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings, confirmation of accepted papers, and certificates of participation in research projects or contracts related to computer science and technology.
Preparatory programme
Required Application Documents
Applicants to the one-year preparatory programme submit the following documents:

Submit certified academic records showing the qualification awarded, courses completed, grades and overall grade-point average.

Submit proof that the applicable application fee has been paid.

The application form must be completed and signed by the applicant.
International Applicants
Graduates of recognised higher-education institutions outside Bulgaria must hold a qualification equivalent to a Bulgarian Bachelor’s degree. Recognition and equivalence are determined by the competent admissions authorities of the University.
Document certification: diplomas and transcripts issued outside Bulgaria must be legalised or apostilled where applicable. Documents not issued in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.

Preparatory-programme applicants submit their legalised academic records, proof of payment of the application fee and a completed, signed application form. Certified English translations are required for documents issued in another language.
Evidence of English Language Proficiency
General requirement
Official evidence of proficiency
Applicants from countries where English is not an official language must submit official evidence of English-language proficiency.
Possible exemption
Previous university study in English
Applicants who have completed at least one year of full-time university study taught in English, with grades of B (Very Good) or higher, may qualify for exemption from a standardised language test.
Before applying, confirm the accepted language certificates, minimum scores and any exemption with the programme coordinator.
